Empowering Displaced Youth Through Sport-Based Entrepreneurship

YALI Ubuntu is a community-led initiative by YALI Sport Africa in partnership with the YALI West Africa Alumni Association – Cameroon. Launched in 2023, the project uses sport as a vehicle for social inclusion, business development, and youth empowerment, especially among internally displaced girls aged 15–20

Let Join Effort

Building on the successes of the 2023 and 2024 editions, YALI Ubuntu is poised for strategic growth in 2025. The project aims to expand to at least three additional regions in Cameroon, reaching more displaced and vulnerable youth through its inclusive, sport-based empowerment model. We will incorporate digital skills training into our curriculum to equip participants with relevant tools for modern entrepreneurship and digital opportunity. A major focus will also be the formalization of the YALI Ubuntu training toolkit, enabling local trainers and partners to replicate and adapt the model across different contexts. In addition, we will develop a regional sport-for-impact mentor network—led by YALI alumni—to provide long-term guidance and accountability. Finally, the initiative will work to strengthen public-private partnerships, including collaboration with sport federations, community organizations, and youth institutions, to ensure scalable impact and long-term sustainability.
