Football for Peace, Unity, and Resilience

The Nkong Fondom Football Tournament for Peace, Social Cohesion, and Community Reintegration is an initiative designed to address the aftermath of the Anglophone crisis in Nkong Fondom, Lebialem Division, Southwest Region, Cameroon, which has displaced thousands of people. In collaboration with Nkong Cultural Development Association (NCUDA) and ROBOGA Organization, this project seeks to harness the power of football as a transformative tool for promoting peace, preventing youth radicalization to violence, and supporting the reintegration of conflict-affected individuals into resilient, inclusive communities

The 2025 edition, held from July to August, brought together 15 teams (10 male, 5 female) from all 22 villages of Nkong Fondom, directly engaging 180 at-risk youth and +2,000 community members. The tournament leverages football as a platform for peace education, conflict resolution, and leadership development. Structured peace-building activities, including team formation, community engagement campaigns, and mentorship programs, are integrated into the tournament to promote tolerance, mutual respect, and teamwork.

2023 & 2024 Past Editions

The project has already demonstrated success, with past editions in 2023 and 2024 reaching over 100 at-risk youth and 1,000 community members, fostering a strong local commitment to peace.

LOOKING FORWARD TO 2030

The journey doesn’t end here. Building on the success of 2025, the tournament aims to establish permanent community football clubs, train youth leaders as Peace Ambassadors, and expand opportunities for girls and women in sport for development. Preparations for the 2026 edition are already underway.
